AIDS was just a statistic to many Los Altos Rotarians—something that happened to someone else. That all changed when the impact of AIDS became a reality for members of the Rotary Club of Los Altos, California. The formation of the Rotary AIDS Project and the production of a 30-minute video “The Los Altos Story” in 1989 brought our story to the world and helped educate others about AIDS with a message of compassion and understanding.

Today, the Rotary AIDS Project is still at work motivating others to:

• Change attitudes and behaviors

• Educate others about AIDS

• Support those afflicted with the disease

• Encourage Rotary involvement
